summer heat

Pick me up at 6.
Let's go west, to the mountains.
Not today, but soon.

a porch haiku

Chatting and laughing,
a tarantula crawls near.
Its frightened like us.

shock!
You look up at her,
from your stack of papers balanced on one arm.

She smiles at you,
perhaps she shuffles her feet too much.

It is ok to be  wrong. Here,
we can learn.

faint friend and ships

A stream of tears in the kitchen left
out the door with belongings brought over for the otherwise calm night.

He stays back and goes back over
and over his thoughts and words.
She treated him like her king,
and his throne and kingdom lay abandoned
like the baked pasta and bacon and cheese.

Moreover, a mountain relinquishes its snowy peaks;
the icy precipitate races down its rocky slopes and onto the new carpet.

add it up

Another momentous occasion terminated
and dissolved into the past.

In hand a coffee mug,
that later makes way for a tea bag;
Cupcakes close by
and they look delicious and tempting.

A computer
and a screened view of things will make you believe
unimaginative reams of knowledge,
we are quick to print and highlight.

The past probably exists in some sense-
but those questions quickly collapse away
in the office and other particular places.

A deep breath and a resounding sigh suggests something;
something that will always be reflecting back
when staring into an undisturbed pond,
situated by the Frasier firs,
from the forest fire of 1745.

Eight Eighteen Coffee Break

Young at heart, sprung and

Precious persistence to find another

One like her.

Here you are; hopeful, heartfelt,

Headed in any direction.

Worrisome, naïve, and never a sip or puff

Past the class that tells you no.
